One of the world's oldest online bookmakers, Centrebet, rate New Zealand as an outside contender to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Centrebet has New Zealand's chances at 15/1, behind present favourite Japan (4/3) and South Africa (13/4).
"The IRB is eager to spread the game beyond its heartlands," said Centrebet sports betting manager Gerard Daffy.
"Japan boasts the infrastructure required to host such an event so it is the clear frontrunner."
The International Rugby Board is expected to announce its decision on the World Cup host nation in November.
Centrebet specialises in election betting and claims its odds are more accurate than polls. It is based in Australia's Northern Territory.
