Crew on board the New Zealand Navy Ships Te Kaha and Endeavour have been challenged to a game of soccer when they visit Tokyo later this week.
The Navy said the invitation was issued by the Japanese destroyer JDS Harusame, which will provide support to the New Zealand ships during their August 4-8 visit.
The three ships will practice manoeuverings over five hours on 8 August.
It will be the first port visit for Te Kaha and Endeavour in a 5-and-a-half-month deployment around North and South East Asia.
