NZ Navy sailor dies at sea

A New Zealand Navy sailor died at sea yesterday onboard HMNZS Te Mana.

Able Marine Technician Shane Michael Stratton, 21, was found dead yesterday afternoon.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

At the time of his death the ship was about 350 nautical miles from Auckland returning from an operational visit to New Caledonia.

The ship will berth at Devonport Naval Base this afternoon.
