NZ music award nominations are closing soon

It's the last call for Wairarapa musicians to get their nominations in for a Tui Award at the country's biggest music industry event.

Nominations close on July 7 for the 2014 Recorded Music Vodafone NZ Music Awards.

Awards are open to Kiwi artists who have had recordings commercially released between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.

Recorded Music NZ CEO Damian Vaughan said he was looking forward to seeing the nominations roll in.

"The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards is the ultimate celebration of the sheer talent and hard work local musicians put in to their art.

"Every year the bar is raised even higher and considering the success of local artists across all genres of music, we're expecting nothing less in 2014."

Past Wairarapa winners include Masterton-raised singer Ladyhawke and Masterton-born Jemaine Clement, one half of comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.

Categories include: Album and single of the year, best group, best male and female solo artists, breakthrough artist, best music video, best maori, rock, urban/hip hop, electronica, roots, pop, alternative, gospel/christian and classical albums.

There are also technical award categories.
