KEY POINTS:
New Zealand motorcyclist Shaun Harris is in a critical condition in a British hospital after a high speed race crash on the Isle of Man early today (NZ time).
Harris, 43 and a two-time winner on the Isle of Man, suffered major fractures, including a broken pelvis.
A spokesman for Noble's Hospital in Braddan on the Isle of Man said Harris was "critical" but could not give any more details.
Harris, from New Plymouth, won the 1000cc and 600cc production races in 2003.
The race website said Harris came off his Suzuki in Union Mills during the four-lap race.
"He was initially described as having suffered serious injuries and multiple fractures. This morning (tonight, NZ time) he is described as 'critical' in the intensive therapy unit at Noble's," the website reported.
Fellow New Zealander Bruce Anstey won the Superstock race for the third year in a row, breaking the lap speed record in the process.
