NZ men say they're 'outstanding' in bed

Are you hooked up with a stud or a dud? If you're a typical Kiwi woman, a new survey shows you probably rate your partner's prowess in bed better than your own.

The finding is from a poll by NZ Woman's Weekly that shows 36 per cent of New Zealand men believe they're "outstanding" in bed and a similar number rate their partners as highly.

But barely a quarter of women give themselves top marks and under half say their partners are outstanding lovers.

The Herald on Sunday took the results to the streets.

Daniel Schwarz, 21, says men are likely to be dissatisfied with their lovers because "they probably have higher expectations" than women do.

He says women might rate their partners better because Kiwi men are good in bed.

David Jack, 26, says women are probably "more humble" but the performance ratings may just reflect the truth.

"Men are possibly more confident," he says.

Pene Fox, 43, says women "are way too hard on themselves" and suffer from body image problems.

A 28-year-old woman, known only as Toni, says men "tend to talk themselves up" in all facets of life.

"Women are more honest in any response," she says.

The NZ Woman's Weekly State of NZ Marriage survey was conducted by Colmar Brunton.
