Sydney police are appealing for help from the public after a fight left a New Zealand man in hospital with serious head injuries.
Thirty-year-old Edwin Linder, formerly of Wanganui, is in serious but stable condition in St Vincent's Hospital following the attack in Oxford St last Sunday.
It is feared he will be brain damaged if survives the attack.
No one has yet come forward with any information relating to the attack, leading Mr Linder's parents to issue a public plea via the Australian media yesterday.
Police believe the assault began with an argument, but that Mr Linder was not specifically targeted.
They say people who saw the argument may not realise what they actually saw.
