KEY POINTS:
A New Zealander has been appointed the new Solicitor General for Fiji.
Christopher Pryde is filling the post that was vacated after Fiji's military administration sacked Nainendra Nand last year.
Mr Pryde is a former lawyer to the Attorney General in Fiji and has represented the government on high-profile cases.
"I am very excited about the challenge," Mr Pryde said.
Earlier this month, the New Zealand government widened travel sanctions against staff of the Fijian Government, following the expulsion of the New Zealand High Commissioner Michael Green.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said as long as Mr Pryde still held a New Zealand passport, he would continue to be able to visit New Zealand.
