NZ Idol runner-up Nik Carlson held centre stage in the Masterton District Court yesterday, even though he wasn't there.
The popular entertainer was up on one of the region's most unpopular charges among his fan base - appearing live in the main street with alcohol in hand.
The police report said that just after 2am on Sunday, January 8, Carlson, 27, was in Chapel Street and had in his possession a 330ml bourbon-cola mix.
When police questioned him he said someone had just given him the drink.
The case was adjourned to March 6, when formal proof will be presented to the court by police, a conviction entered and Carlson will be sent a fine.
