New Zealand First will pay back money the Auditor-General's report on illegal election spending found it owed.
Party leader Winston Peters said an announcement would be made shortly and it would include a cheque.
NZ First has said it has the money to repay its alleged $158,000 overspending but wanted to be convinced there was a sound legal basis for doing so.
