New Zealand education providers do not intend to cave in to attempts by the Chinese Government to dictate quality standards in this country.
China wants a list of approved education providers and raised standards.
Patrick Ibbertson, from language school group APPEL, said schools which fulfilled local standards should be able to accept students.
Mike Roberts, from the Association of Private Education Providers, said any China-friendly list must not undermine the Qualification Authority's quality assurance system.
