New Zealand Cricket has rejected a call by the Prime Minister and most MPs for the Black Caps to abandon next month's tour of Zimbabwe.
Although 110 of New Zealand's 120 MPs yesterday asked the cricketers to quit the tour, the sport's chief executive, Martin Snedden, said the consequences of not going would be disastrous.
He will write to Helen Clark to explain why the team intend to meet contractual obligations as spelled out by the International Cricket Council.
