NZ broadcaster diagnosed with cancer

Radio broadcaster Kerry Smith has been diagnosed with melanoma and is taking medical leave to focus on her recovery.

The leave from her 10am-2pm announcer role on radio station The Breeze is effective immediately.

"We fully support her decision to focus on her health, and we look forward to Kerry's recovery and return to the station," programme director Ian Avery said.
