New Zealand's first full embassy in Austria is to open in January next year.
Foreign minister, Murray McCully, says having an embassy in Vienna will help consolidate our diplomatic footprint in Europe. A key focus of it will be to develop trade and economic links with Austria and its neighbouring region.
Career diplomat, Philip Griffiths, will be our ambassador, and also hold the position of our permanent representative to the United Nations in Vienna.
