NZ abortion rate lowest since 2001

The abortion rate in New Zealand has dropped to its lowest level since 2001.

There were 16 thousand 630 abortions last year.

That's the lowest number since 2001 when 16 thousand 410 abortions were performed.

The highest abortion rate was for women aged between 20 and 24.

61 per cent of abortions were a women's first abortion.

56 per cent of abortions were performed in the tenth week.
