KEY POINTS:
A woman who worked nearly two fulltime nursing jobs when not qualified for either has had her enrolled nursing registration cancelled.
Tauaroha Davies, 52, was found guilty of malpractice and professional misconduct by the health practitioners' disciplinary tribunal in Wellington in November last year.
She had been a nurse for 30 years.
Davies falsified a practising certificate to work as a registered nurse at the Glengarry House Elderly Care Resthome in Wairoa, Hawkes Bay, from June 2001 to December 2003.
She was qualified only as an enrolled nurse. She also worked as a registered nurse for Plunket in Wairoa.
In addition to passing herself off as a registered nurse, Davis was working the equivalent of 1.6 fulltime jobs, which may have compromised public health and safety. She admitted the charges, telling the tribunal she did not wish to work as a nurse any more.
The tribunal ruled that she was guilty of professional misconduct and cancelled her registration as an enrolled nurse. It directed its decision be published on its own website, and in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, the Nursing Council newsletter, and the Nursing Review with reference to her name as both Tauaroha Davies and Tauaroha Fraser.
