An Auckland nurse has been suspended for six months for forging a prescription for the weight-loss drug Reductil.
Rosylin Rada Singh, who was found guilty of professional misconduct by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, must also undergo a year's supervision upon resuming nursing.
The tribunal said Ms Singh forged the prescription in the name of a rest-home resident and presented it to a pharmacy with the intention of obtaining the medicine for her own use. She claimed she was set up. There was no court conviction or police investigation.
The tribunal decision cites evidence of former colleagues that Ms Singh had problems with body image. One said she was obsessed with her weight and was very petite. The witness even considered she might have anorexia.
