Nurofen maker responds to heart attack claims

Short-term use of pain reliever Nurofen is not associated with an increased risk of heart attack, says Reckitt Benckiser, manufacturer of the drug.

The statement was in response to reports of a study published in Circulation, an American Heart Foundation publication.

Reckitt Benckiser said the article did not represent recommended usage of Nurofen.

Labelling specifies a dosage of less than 1200mg per day for no more than three days at a time.
