Wairarapa Times-Age circulation eased by 2.2 per cent in the latest circulation period, although the paper's circulation is still 1.3 per cent ahead of last year, one of only two newspapers in New Zealand to achieve this feat.
General manager Andrew Denholm said the paper was always up against trying to beat compound growth but was pleased that subscribers grew in the latest period. Deputy editor Don Farmer said the adjustment had been expected but the overall result was outstanding, especially in view of the intense competition newspapers now faced.
It reflected, he said, not only the quality product being made available to the people of Wairarapa but also the loyalty of the newspaper's readers.
The Dominion's circulation dropped 4.1 per cent in the latest period and is now 11.4 per cent lower than last year.
