Cantabrians making the most of the warmer temperatures are being reminded to keep their houses securely locked up.
Police have warned they start to see a rise in the number of burglaries as the weather heats up.
People can sometimes be in the back garden and their house can be burgled, District Commander Superintendent John Price said.
"It's all about the opportunity and if the windows are open and doors open and you're away from your house someone else might come in and decide it's also a good chance for them to help themselves to your property."
Garden tool thefts increase with temperature, with lawn mowers at the top of the list, he said, adding that people need to be extra vigilant and secure their garden sheds.
