Not guilty pleas for man arrested after fight in Raumati

A Kapiti man facing sex charges after a fight which led to two men being hospitalised has denied some of the allegations.

Dieter Nehe Kotara is accused of sexually violating and indecently assaulting a woman in November.

On the same day, the 38-year-old was also allegedly involved in a fight at a Raumati Beach property.

He was charged with male assaults female, injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and assaulting another man with a blunt instrument.

Further charges were laid later in November.

Kotara appeared via audio visual link in the Wellington District Court this morning, where his lawyer entered not guilty pleas to six charges, including one of indecent assault, a male assaults female charge, and two counts of assaulting with intent to injure.

Pleas would be entered to the remaining charges at his next appearance on March 22.

Kotara and another man appeared in court last year after police were called to reports of three men fighting at a Rimu Rd property.

It is believed the fight was in relation to an earlier incident, a police spokesperson said.

Two of the men were taken to hospital but were soon discharged.

The men are all known to each other.
