Eketahuna are anticipating a stern tussle with Norths in their Wellington premier division women's rugby match at Eketahuna tomorrow.
Norths have been the dominant team in the capital over the past few years and while Eketahuna beat them easily enough in their only meeting this season, coach Sid Tatana says that result will count for nothing on this occasion.
"They [Norths] know how to win the big games and you can never take anything for granted against them," Tatana said. "They will be up for this one."
As has become the norm Eketahuna will look to their forwards to do the hard yards before unleashing their powerful backline on the opposition defences.
Bruising midfield back Shakira Baker has scored five tries in each of the last two games with the speedy service given her by the inside combination of Laura Gavin, Rebecca Mahoney and Maia Tua-Davidson allowing her to make full use of her speed and strength.
Tatana knows, however, that Norths will be well aware of the threat that Baker poses and he says the Eketahuna backs might need to rely more on their collective talents to regularly breach the advantage line if they are going to prevail tomorrow.
