Metservice has lifted the rain warning for Northland as the heavy rain turns to showers.
Forecaster Andy Downs said some heavy falls could still hit the eastern hills of Northland from Whangarei southwards.
He said the Coromandel Peninsula, Gisborne and Tokomaru Bay were also set for a drenching as the moist front moves south.
Mr Downs said the rain could come in short heavy bursts and cause localised surface flooding.
