KEY POINTS:
Nathan Charles Fenton, who is charged with murdering a teenage girl in Whangarei in August, was further remanded in custody when he appeared in the Whangarei district court today.
Fenton, 31, was remanded until January 18 for the taking of depositions.
He is charged with murdering 17-year-old Mairina Dunn at a house in Otangarei on August 27. He also faces two charges of theft relating to a car in Auckland, cash, camping gear and other items on September 3, plus six firearms and assault charges.
Fenton was on the run in the south-eastern Bay of Islands area for 11 days after Ms Dunn died, before he was captured by police in September.
Eileen Verna Everitt, 28, of Manurewa, who was with Fenton while he tried to elude police, did not appear in court today. She is charged with helping Fenton to avoid arrest and also faces three other related charges.
