The Northland District Health Board has gone from carrying a multi-million-dollar debt to turning out a profit within the space of a year - and is now looking to widen its funding pool through sponsorship and fundraising.
The surplus in the latest year was $145,000 compared with the previous loss of $5 million.
Northland Health chief executive Karyn McPeake said the financial turnaround was achieved while maintaining and increasing the number of patients seen.
