A Far North farmer was electrocuted when he went to investigate a water leak in the roof of his home last night.
St John Ambulance spokesman Charlie Bougher said the man, aged in his early 50s, was electrocuted at his Taupo Bay, Kaeo, home at about 10.25pm.
Mr Bougher said the man's daughter and wife were at home at the time.
The Fire Service was called to assist with lighting after power was cut to the home.
Far North power company Top Energy is investigating the death.
