Showers are on their way with a northeast flow spreading across the country from tomorrow.
Although temperatures were chilly and the roads icy over the long weekend, the wet weather held off while Kiwis made the most of the last public holiday until October. And in Queenstown, it was cold enough for Coronet Peak skifield workers to build a snow slope for children to tube down under the winter sun.
But the MetService said to expect a change in conditions tomorrow as a northeast flow brings cloud and the start of wet weather. This will affect most of the country by the end of the week.
Meteorologist Arno Davison said temperatures would pick up and the showers would be isolated for Northland, Auckland and the Bay of Plenty. The damp weather and warmer temperatures were likely to remain through the weekend.
Auckland is set to reach 19C on Thursday and Friday with the highs dropping and showers easing on Saturday on Sunday. Clear skies are forecast on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Hamilton and Tauranga's forecasts look similar, except the showers are set to continue into Monday.
