Parts on Auckland's North Shore are without power after a truck collided with a power pole.
Vector spokeswoman Philippa White said 923 homes and businesses had been affected.
She said the accident happened at 11.20 this morning and workers were on site assessing the damage.
Ms White said it was not possible to give an estimated time of when the power would be turned back on.
Earlier this morning inner-city Aucklanders were plunged into darkness.
Ms White said a fault with an underground cable occurred shortly before 3.30am which effected 658 homes and businesses.
She said the cause of the cable fault was not known and power was restored by 6am.
