An Armed Offenders Squad callout in Glenfield on Auckland's North Shore appears to be coming to an end.
Two truckloads of Armed Offenders Squad members this afternoon descended on James Street and Glenfield Road after a report of gunshots.
Cordons were put in place and Armed Offenders Squad members surrounded a house on Glenfield Road.
The cordons have now been lifted and most of the Armed Offenders Squad members have left.
Two women were seen coming out of the house and were taken away by police.
John Cormack of Butcher Jacks on Glenfield Road said he had seen a man who was sitting in a parked ute across the road taken away by police.
Mr Cormack said a police helicopter had been flying around overhead and he had seen police carrying rifles.
Police spokesman Kevin Loughlin this afternoon said police were still at the house and three occupants were helping them with inquiries.
