Auckland, Northland and the Coromandel Peninsula are set to get a drenching tomorrow morning.
MetService forecaster Ian Miller said bursts of heavy thundery rain were set to hit Kaitaia tonight before heading south.
He said the rain would also hit the Coromandel, western Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne tomorrow afternoon, where up to 200mm could fall in the ranges.
