North Island's population keeps growing

The concentration of the population in cities and the North Island is continuing.

Statistics New Zealand says the combined population of cities grew by 45,600 in the year to June to reach 2,250,700.

The North Island's population grew by 47,000 to 2,999,300, while the South Island's had increased by 11,400 to 947,500.
