An earthquake that struck near Martinborough just before noon yesterday was felt as far away as Carterton and Masterton.
The 3.7 magnitude tremor struck at 11.59am about 15km south-east of the town and was described as light.
The quake struck at a depth of 28km and was felt in Martinborough, Greytown, Carterton, and Masterton.

Eileen Gundesen, also in Greytown, had heard what "sounded like someone stomping on the decking up to the front door" during the quake, while Cheryl Materman had been reaching to retrieve a "camera off the table and it was shaking".
