A 48-hour nonstop New Year drum'n bass party has been shifted to Nelson's Trafalgar Centre and adjoining Rutherford Park after being refused resource consent for its countryside Golden Downs site.
About 2500 tickets have already been sold for the Phat 05 New Year event.
While Nelson Residents Association president Gaire Thompson expected nearby residents would be tolerant, the move worries an accommodation provider in the area.
Phat Club owners Dave White and Selena Coombes said in an email to members that Tasman District Council had withheld consent because of objections from adjoining land-user Weyerhaeuser New Zealand.
