KEY POINTS:
New Zealanders will have the opportunity to unravel mysteries of the universe when a Nobel prize-winning physicist visits next week.
American Frank Wilczek, who received a Nobel prize in 2004, will give lectures at Massey campuses in Palmerston North and Auckland on Tuesday and Thursday next week.
The focus of the lectures will be on the modern view of the universe and exploring the potential consequences of recent discoveries about it
Professor Tony Signal, of Massey University, said Professor Wilczek was known for his ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
The lecture series aims to bring the foremost scientists in maths, chemistry and physics to New Zealand to enable academics and the public to hear first-hand of scientific advances.
Professor Signal said the famous visitor also had a link with an even more famous name in physics.
"When he was a professor at Princeton, Frank and his family lived in the same house that Albert Einstein had lived in during his 20 or so years at Princeton."
