The Rotorua MP behind a Private Members Bill which could allow retailers to trade on Easter Sunday says she is not sure the bill will be drawn from the ballot box by Christmas.
If passed, it would give each local council the right to decide whether retailers should open on Easter Sunday.
Stephanie Chadwick's bill could be pulled out of the ballot between the 5th or the 15th of December - but that is the only chance before parliament breaks for Christmas.
She says if it is not drawn in those two weeks when parliament is sitting, it may not be looked at until February.
But Ms Chadwick says even if it does not get drawn out until next year, she is still confident the bill could get the three readings it needs before becoming law.
