A helicopter search has failed to find any trace of a car police are seeking after the discovery of an unidentified body in a burned house near Taupo.
The man's body was found in the charred remains of the house in the small rural community of Tirohanga on Sunday.
An autopsy revealed the body was that of a man, but offered no clues to the identity. Dental and DNA tests would now be used.
* Sightings of the car, a Nissan Primera, registration YO6136, should be reported to Taupo police on (07) 378 6060 or (07) 377 9320.
