There was no suspicious activity behind a fatal house fire in which one man died, police said today.
The man died in a blaze at his Petone, Hutt Valley, flat last Thursday.
Neighbours tried to save him, a local resident told NZME News Service.
Today, police said the matter would be referred to the coroner and police were awaiting a Fire Safety Officer's report.
Local residents said a man moved in to the Hardham Cres property a few weeks ago and lived alone.
