An ad for digital TV service Freeview featuring former What Now? presenter Jason Faafoi has been deemed misleading by the advertising watchdog.
The commercial claimed having Freeview and an "ordinary telly" meant viewers could receive at least 12 channels and radio stations in "crystal clear reception, no matter where you live in New Zealand".
But the Advertising Standards Authority upheld a complaint from J McLellan that it was misleading because viewers needed a satellite dish which could cost $400.
The ASA's complaints board ruled the ad was in breach of Rule 2 of the Code of Ethics, truthful representation and "likely to deceive or mislead".
No such thing as a free view
