TVNZ newsreader Judy Bailey, who is to be dumped as anchor of One News, is not among the finalists for the inaugural Qantas Television awards released today.
In the category of best news/current affairs presenter, which would have applied to Bailey, the finalists are Mike McRoberts and Hilary Barry from 3 News, John Campbell from TV3's Campbell Live, and Mark Sainsbury from TVNZ's Close Up.
The New Zealand Television Broadcasters' Council said the 31 awards would recognise excellence in all New Zealand television production, including news and current affairs.
As well as categories voted by people within the industry, there would also be readers' choice awards.
That included most popular male and female personality, the most popular New Zealand television programme and the most popular international show.
