Air New Zealand says it is not necessary to check its aircraft after two tyres on a jumbo jet burst on landing at Brisbane yesterday.
The Boeing 747, carrying 200 passengers, landed safely and engineers replaced the tyres before the aircraft resumed service.
Air NZ said yesterday the tyres may have been damaged as the aircraft took off from Auckland.
Today it said there was no need to check the tyres on other aircraft taking off from Auckland because the theory on what caused the damage was speculative.
Company spokeswoman Rosie Paul said the tyres would be brought back from Brisbane and the investigation into what caused the damage could take a few days.
She said it was very unusual for two tyres to burst.
"Until the investigation is complete it is pure speculation as to what might have happened," she said.
