A 15-year-old Hamilton schoolboy has been taken to hospital after his arm was used to test a knife brought to school by a fellow pupil.
Police have warned pupils against taking knives to school in the wake of the incident at a Hamilton secondary school at about 10am this morning.
Inspector Rob Lindsay said an initial investigation had found the incident started when a 15-year-old said he wanted to test the sharpness of a knife he had with him.
Another 15-year-old volunteered one of his arms to test it on.
"The offender has drawn the knife across the boy's arm without affect and has then done it a second time, this time with more pressure resulting in a cut that required medical treatment."
