Masterton fire crews attended two emergency calls within 12 hours in which the victims escaped serious injury.
Fire communications supervisor Dallas Ramsay said Masterton firefighters attended a crash scene on State Highway 2 near Kiriwhakapapa, north of the town, in which a driver had lost control of a vehicle that came to a stop in a roadside paddock.
The call was fielded shortly before 7pm on Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
Masterton firefighters were also scrambled to an occupied Margaret St home that became smoke-logged about 6.30am yesterday.
Ms Ramsay said there had been "significant smoke" in the small house and an alarm sounded, alerting the occupants and the fire service.
