KEY POINTS:
An extensive search has failed to find any trace of a teenager missing north of Auckland for 10 days.
Police search and rescue teams spent much of yesterday around the Mahurangi River area searching for Luke Mason, 17, a farmhand from nearby Warkworth.
However, an Orewa police spokesman said the searchers had finished for the day and had not found any trace of the teenager.
Luke Mason was last seen on July 20 after drinking heavily at a party in Warkworth.
His push-bike was found beside the Mahurangi River and on Thursday his shoes were found, renewing hope that he had wandered off and wasalive.
But police said yesterday that his bank accounts had not been touched and with every day that went by hope faded that he was still alive.
