KEY POINTS:
A no fly zone has been established over a scrub fire which is burning 25kms south of Queenstown.
The flight ban covers a five kilometre radius of the blaze, which is now burning into its fifth day.
Nine helicopters equipped with monsoon buckets and four ground crews are involved in controlling the fire, which stretches more than 1,000 hectares from the shores of Lake Wakatipu into the Hector Mountains.
Authorities say the use of helicopters, combined with air traffic from the nearby 'Warbirds Over Wanaka' show, means a no-fly zone is appropriate.
Principal Rural Fire Officer Gordon Bailey says a 30 km/hr northwesterly is fanning the flames.
