Murdered pensioner Doreen Reed will not have any family at her funeral, which will be held in Auckland next week.
Mrs Reed had just two surviving relatives - a 95-year-old brother in the United Kingdom and an 87-year-old sister in South Africa. Neither of them are able to attend.
Members of the police investigation team will be present at the 77-year-old's funeral at North Harbour Chapel, Albany, at 1.00pm on Monday.
Detective Inspector Steve Wood said their thoughts were with deceased's family, relatives, friends and local community.
A 15-year-old boy charged with Mrs Reed's murder was remanded in custody yesterday.
Mrs Reed was found dead in her Eskdale Rd, Birkdale, home on Sunday. She suffered multiple stab wounds which pierced major organs, police said.
