The now-departed Ellerslie Flower Show will not get a council-funded replacement, this year at least.
The Auckland Regional Council and the Manukau City Council yesterday announced they would not continue investigations into a new show.
The Ellerslie Flower Show was held at the Auckland Botanic Gardens from 1998, before relocating to Christchurch last year.
The two councils had been working together to see if a new event would work in the city.
It was expected such an event would compete against the privately-funded Auckland Flower Show, established last year at Alexander Park Raceway and due to run in November.
