No one will be charged over the death of an Auckland man after a bar fight, police say.
Mt Roskill welder Raymond Frank Lelisi, 30, was found dead in bed at a relative's property in the Waitakere City suburb of New Lynn on March 12, two days after the fight in the car park of the Spider Bar bar in Avondale.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cramer said today that following a post mortem examination it was now believed the cause of death was not related to the fight.
He would not reveal the cause of death but said Mr Lelisi had a heart condition and the matter would now be referred to the Auckland coroner.
It was possible other charges could be laid against another man involved in the fight but they would be of a relatively minor nature.
Mr Lelisi was involved in a fight in the carpark of the Spider Bar about 10.30pm on March 10.
He is thought to have left the bar on foot with a relative and went to work the following day.
He was last seen alive by relatives at the New Lynn address late on March 11 and was found dead in bed the following day.
