Champion speller Charlotte Roose misspelled erythrophobia, the fear of blushing, at the Scripps National National Spelling Bee in Washington DC yesterday, and was knocked out in the second round.
The 12-year-old, from Hamilton, showed no sign of erythrophobia herself as she walked on stage in front of 500 people, TV cameras and a documentary crew.
