The ex-partner of Carmen Thomas, accused of her murder, has failed in a bid to be released from prison before his trial.
Justice Rebecca Ellis declined to grant bail for 33-year-old Brad Callaghan, after a two-hour hearing in the High Court at Auckland yesterday.
Callaghan has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms Thomas, 32, whose dismembered body was found set in concrete in plastic buckets in the Waitakere Ranges, West Auckland, last October.
