People annoyed at missing a holiday because Anzac Day falls on a Sunday this year will be even more frustrated to find out that next year for the first time ever Anzac Day will fall on Easter Monday, meaning no holiday again.
Anzac Day has never fallen on a Easter Monday since April 25 was officially named Anzac Day in 1916 and the next time it will fall on an Easter Monday will be in the year 2095.
The unusual occurrence next year will make it the third year in a row that New Zealanders miss out on a statutory holiday for Anzac Day - last year it fell on a Saturday.
The same cannot be said for our Anzac partners in Australia who will have the chance to take the day off this year on Monday as the holiday carries over.
Anzac Day will be the second holiday New Zealanders will miss out on this year as Waitangi Day fell on a Saturday.
A spokesman for the Minister of Labour said there were no immediate plans to change the current situation and most New Zealanders wanted to recognise Anzac day on the day itself.
